They didn't do a walk around of the car. There were scratches prior to my pick up, which made me anxious that I would get charged for something I didn't do. I think Hertz should be doing an inspection of the vehicle prior to hand off

Overall it was fine. However, picking up the car was slow and painful. Most everyone had to wait 45-60mins + to receive their car after you paid and went thru customer service rep. The van we got was new but had some obvious minor damage all around. 10 minutes into the drive from Budget and the front right TPS (tire pressure sensor) was alarming that there was an issue. Luckily, the tire was fine and just a bad sensor but was a bit annoying getting that warning everytime you started the van. Overall, it was worth it. Just need some patience at the start.

They gave me an old car making funny noise over 40 mph. There was a super long line with exactly 2 agents behind the counter who happen to be less than friendly, trying to aggressively push for things I did not want nor need. Return procedure had no explanations and when I sought to ask, they were very rude and could not be bothered. Probably the worst rental car experience overall I ever had.

Working with Payless was very easy, efficient and got me on my way in a short period of time. Had a small snafu at first but was handled very professionally and timely. I interacted with two of the rental clerks at pickup and both were courteous, helpful and willing to make sure we were satisfied. Sometimes, during the stress of travel, we forget that there are processes that must be attended to. A little patience and courtesy goes a long way in smoothing these out. I would rent from Payless again.

Take an hour and fifteen minutes to get a car. First, a 45-minute wait in line and then the another 30 minutes to bring it from another lot and clean it.

Staff were nice. Car was the one advertised. The line to get my car at pickup was literally an hour and 20 minutes (not enough staff). The vehicle has a slow leak in one of the tires and the battery was low in the remote key. Lihue needs more staffing and probably a better check of their vehicles.

It was extremely busy at the pickup in Lihue. Had a long wait after a long flight. The agents were extremely pleasant despite the amount of people waiting to pick up their vehicle.

Good until we dropped the car off. Failed to fill the tank back to 100% and dropped it off at 75%. We were charged $78 for a quarter tank of gas.

A/C quit working and the car lost power going up hills, had to exchange the car. After we got the second car all was good. We had no issues getting the exchange accomplished other than the inconvenience.

Took forever to get car. Had flat tire on top of Waimea canyon. Tire was bald and no owners manual to help figure out where spare tire was. Waited 2 hrs and still no tow truck. Finally found someone with same vehicle and looked at owners manual regarding spare tire. We would appreciate a partial reimbursement for our terrible day!!

I liked the ease of pick up; I was allowed to go out and choose any car on a particular row that was in the category I had reserved. I wasn't given any high-pressure treatment, trying to get me to upgrade to something I didn't need or buy an unnecessary insurance policy Then it was just a matter of looking the car over for any scratches and proceeding out to our destination. The return was equally straightforward. I applaud the company for this most appreciated streamlined approach!
